Privacy Policy

This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. I've kept it in plain English.

Who I am

Ads Refinery is run by me, Julian England, from Somerset in the UK. I'm responsible for any personal information collected through this site. If you have a question about it, email me at hello@adsrefinery.co.uk.

What I collect and why

When you fill in the contact form. I get your name, email address and message. If you choose to add them, I also get your business name, phone number and website. I use this to reply to your enquiry and, if we decide to work together, to talk about your Google Ads. That's it. I'll never sell or rent your details to anyone, and I won't add you to a mailing list without asking.

When you browse the site. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how the site is used. That includes the pages you visit, how long you stay, roughly where you are (country or city, not your address), the device and browser you use, and how you found the site. I use this to see which pages are useful and which aren't. It doesn't tell me who you are.

The legal bit: why I'm allowed to use it

  • Contact form: I rely on legitimate interests. You've asked me something, and I need your details to answer.
  • Analytics: I rely on your consent. Analytics cookies only load if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time.

Cookies

The site uses two kinds of cookies:

  • Necessary cookies keep the site working and secure. They don't need your consent.
  • Analytics cookies (from Google Analytics, such as _ga and _ga_*) are only set if you accept them. They usually last up to 2 years.

You can change your choice using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. You can also clear cookies in your browser at any time.

The services I use

  • Web3Forms delivers contact form messages to my inbox. Web3Forms privacy policy
  • Google Tag Manager loads tools like Google Analytics on the site. It doesn't collect personal information on its own.
  • Google Analytics 4 measures how the site is used, as described above. Google may process this data outside the UK, including in the US, under its standard safeguards. Google privacy policy
  • Cloudflare hosts the site and protects it from attacks. It may process your IP address to do that. Cloudflare privacy policy

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries: I keep emails for as long as we're in touch. If we don't end up working together, I delete them within 2 years. If we do work together, I keep them for as long as I need to for my business records.
  • Analytics data: Google Analytics keeps it for 14 months, then deletes it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you can ask me to:

  • show you what information I have about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop using it, or limit how I use it
  • give you a copy so you can take it elsewhere

Just email me at hello@adsrefinery.co.uk. I'll reply within a month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first and I'll do my best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over a secure (HTTPS) connection, so anything you send is encrypted on the way. I only use reputable services to handle your information, and I don't keep more than I need.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes, such as a new tool on the site, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
